I'm a fifty year old part-time home handyman who lives in Melbourne Australia. I have been working in the IT industry for the last 30 years, but have also toiled in the backyards of the various houses I've owned during that time.
When it comes to deck building I've constructed four in my lifetime, and as far as I know they are all still standing. Being so, I decided to pass my knowledge and learnings down to you the reader in the hope that you will also catch the building bug.
Decking brings the inside of the house outside, and joins the outside living area back to the inside, making the home whole.
Whenever we move to a new property, or even visit friends that have moved, my first response when my opinion is asked is always "let's build a deck!"
